okay so
of all the things I didn’t like about ten inch hero
priestly changing his look at the end was actually not one of them.
daily reminder that jensen ackles was in an episode of wishbone
aaaaaahhhhhhh
OMFG did you look up the episode he’s in though?
Ellen befriends a young man who has recently lost his own mother, which causes Joe to wrestle with his jealousy. To help him, Senora Julia, an old friend who is like a second mother to him, tells him the story of Juan Diego (played by Wishbone, of course) and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
He plays “Michael Duss”, and it looks like it was his first role for TV.

Thesis: Dean’s emotional and psychological problems stem primarily from John’s alcohol abuse. Dean exhibits the majority of characteristics of an Adult Child of an Alcoholic and is one of the few characters on television whose mental health issues are clearly shown to have its source from the alcoholism of a parent.
Within the Supernatural canon, oblique references have been made to John Winchester’s alcoholism. That he abused alcohol is clear, as it was mentioned on more than one occasion that he would pass out from drinking and that he stole a beer can wreath (not exactly the decoration that would be of interest to anyone but an alcohol abuser). Bobby also has a serious alcohol dependency, called “the town drunk” in 5.15 and is himself the son of an abusive alcoholic. This being the CW, alcoholism is rarely explicitly discussed, the closest coming in season 7 when Sam addresses Dean’s drinking when they are fighting the Japanese alcohol monster. However, the extent of John’s alcoholism can be inferred from Dean’s own behaviour.
Holy fucking shit. This is amazing. The level of research alone puts anything I’ve ever written to shame. Read this. Now.

I really hope this is an idea that continues to be explored in Season 8, as Dean works through his PTSD. He’s off the sauce now, but now that he’s topside and struggling to adjust, will he start hitting the bottle again?
Truth is, both brothers are addicts in their own way, and without appropriate closure or healing, any addict tends toward relapse.
I actually asked this question and while I enjoyed the answer that was provided, I was a little surprised that they seem to be planning on sweeping his alcoholism under the rug. The one of the reasons why Dean has developed into an alcoholic is because of his lack of appropriate emotional coping tools and while some time away from alcohol will diminish the physical craving for it, he will relapse as soon as he starts feeling out-of-control or is forced to deal with more serious emotional trauma.
Alcoholics don’t go back to being able to casually drink alcohol after sobering up, so it’s a bit disingenuous to assume that simply spending some time away from the bottle will cure him. It seemed like Jensen was interested in continuing to explore that aspect, but it seems to have been dropped for whatever reasons.
Reblogging for commentary.
And thanks for asking such a great question, lookatthesefreakinghipsters! It’s nice when fans take advantage of the opportunity to ask a question of substance at these cons :)

So I was browsing my dash and noticed that someone had asked flutiebear about when Dean realised he was love with Cas. After a stellar answer, I was overcome with feelings, and considering I had just watched The Third Man recently, I went back and looked over the scene again. I proceeded to do some analysing of my own. Each of these parts come in sets of two, but given the way Tumblr abuses its right to move your photos around, they aren’t all side by side. You’re clever people, you’ll figure out which set belongs with its other half.
In the first, is right when Dean hears Castiel’s wings/realises he’s there. His face is already starting to go slack there from shock.
The second was already analysed by flutiebear here and I honestly have nothing more to add to it.
In the first part of the third set, Dean looks back at Sam, with a look on his face like “Castiel is there. Am I imagining this? Turn and look, bitch.” Sam proceeds to ask “he’s right behind me, isn’t he?” and Dean’s eyes immediately go back to Cas, still trying to take in the fact that Cas is even there.
In the fourth set, Cas says his first word to them in a year: “Hello.” Sam turns to make an epic bitchface at Dean, and Dean can only shrug as a small smile quirks at his lips near the end. It’s Cas, that greeting is so fucking Cas all Dean can do is try not to laugh.
In the last set, Sam is continuing to hold his epic bitchface over the fact that all Castiel could say was “hello.” Sam turns back to look at Dean, who can only shake his head like he doesn’t know what to tell him, and then once again immediately goes back to looking at Cas like he still can’t believe it.
It’s only once Cas continues speaking that Dean’s head finally falls and he seems to get over his awe a little bit.
Take from this what you will, my lone conclusion beyond Destiel was that Jensen Ackles has a very expressive face.
Thank you SO MUCH destiny-and-deerstalkers! Your GIFs capture the moment so much better than my words ever could.
Jensen Ackles really is a master of non-verbal communication. <3

Wait, these aren’t really the lyrics. You guys are just fucking with me.
There’s no way Jensen Ackles is actually singing these words right now on this song. This is all just, like, one big Photoshopping. Or a manip. Or a mass delusion.
STOP TOYING WITH MY HEART, INTERNET. IT’S NOT FUNNY.

Full version of Dean singing “All Out of Love” - outtake from Slash Fiction - from the Season 7 DVD
THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THINGS.
Seriously i think the Show just shipped Dean and Sam!
This sequence in the show was an homage to the scene of Brad Pitt singing Air Supply in “Mr and Mrs Brown” - see the comparison here.
POS stands for “Piece of Shit” car, the crew nickname for the replacement cars the boys drove after stowing the Impala.
Read more about Jensen and his singing, both on and off the show.
I actually think I love this more than “Eye of the Tiger”.
This never, ever fails to make me smile.

That’s not what Jensen said. He said the scene, as originally written, was “unmanly”. As for where “too gay” came from, in the video you can see that Jensen is clearly only repeating words a fan told him Misha’d used (which isn’t what he’d said either).
The thing is, Jensen has a point. And it’s not about intent, but about tone.
The original lines in question:
Dumb to keep. I know. I saw you dissolve or whatever. But, just in case. ‘Cause I never stopped wanting to fix it either. So we got something in common. Just— take it. Please.
…as brilliant as these lines are, they doesn’t sound like two men talking to each other; and they especially don’t sound like Dean talking to Cas. Season 7 Dean does not beg (“take it, please”), and he doesn’t apologize easily (“just in case”), especially now, and especially for doing something he does not feel is wrong. I’ll get into this more when we get there, but by this point, I think he’s too broken and torn down, too disconnected from his own wants, to be self-aware enough to apologize for keeping the coat.
And yet, this dialogue was carefully written to be the culmination of everything Dean had experienced and overcome up to this point. Like I said, I’ll dig more into this when I get to “The Born Again Identity”, but the entire episode, the entire season really, hinges on that one line of “cause I never stopped wanting to fix it” (because as I mentioned in the analysis of “Death’s Door”, that’s part of why Dean’s grief is so persistent and self-destructive). After he admits it, nothing is the same.
The stopgap — “part of me always believed you’d come back” — was good, but it wasn’t exactly true; because a) that’s not how grief works; and b) Dean wasn’t tormented because he always thought Cas might return; he was tormented because he never got a chance to repair their relationship before Cas died. So yeah, I never liked it, I never thought it fit, and I thought the editors were right to cut that line.
I think maybe what they should’ve done instead was just keep “Because I never stopped wanting to fix it either” and cut away everything else. Of course, it’s easy for me to say that now, with the benefit of hindsight and not being in the Writer’s Pit. But I wish Sera had fought harder for her script, or that Bob/Misha/Jensen hadn’t changed it on the fly to what they did. Ah well. Mistakes happen. Coulda woulda shoulda.
As for whether Jensen sees Dean and Cas in love — isn’t it obvious that both he and Misha think Dean is? I mean, notice how easily he and Misha joke about Dean keeping the trench, for example; and in the quote I link to above, Misha outright says “we’ve talked about this, and we think Dean is attracted to Cas”. He even goes so far as to say Dean’s “a little gay” for Cas. It’s clear that they’re both Team Profound Bond. And, okay, so maybe Jensen isn’t as loquacious about it as Misha, maybe he doesn’t use the same words, but when someone asks “what did Dean do with the trenchcoat” and he jokes about “using it as a pillow” or mimes rubbing his face all over said coat, I think that’s a pretty clear indication of what he thinks his character feels.
So can we please put these misconceptions about the “unmanly” quote to bed already? This isn’t on you, nonny, but that they’ve survived as long as they have, I think, reflects poorly on the fandom, and even implies a level of homophobia on our parts that just isn’t there.
Jensen and Danneel Ackles in Malibu [02.09.2012]
Wait, they’re in Malibu, and not on set. Which means that must be a real tattoo?
That tattoo of a sword.
On the dominant arm of the guy who plays The Michael Sword.
That’s real.
I CAN’T.
