Embarrassing confession time: The first time I fired up Legacy, I cried.
No, I don’t mean when you find out Garrett’s father was a blood mage. Or when Anders loses it in the deep and Justice summons shades on the man he loves. (Although I lost it both those times, too.)
I mean, I cried when I fired up Legacy.
As in, at the “Choose Your Party” screen, I sobbed like a fucking lunatic.
Because Bethany was playable again.
Beautiful, broken, angry Bethany, resplendent in Warden armor that I swear the artists designed just to highlight her magnificence —
Bethany, her body angled slightly away from me, still so guarded and shielded by Hawke’s considerable penumbra —
My Bethany, as she had always been, part of the family once more.
Okay, so yes: I might have been PMSing that week.
But fuck. That was just a punch to the gut.
