In honor of the Eurovision final next weekend, all this week I’ll highlighting a few of my favorite entries from the past seven years.

Overall, I found 2010 to be the weakest year—but even in a crappy year there’s always a standout or two, such as Lithuania’s InCulto, with “Eastern European Funk”

It’s catchy, it’s fun, and it’s totally all about thumbing your nose in the face of systemic Western oppression. I dare you not to have this song in your head three hours from now.

The song didn’t make it to the Final, but the performance vid is worth a watch, if only for the kazoos, vinyl trumpet and sparkly hot pants—and the BBC commentator saying “oh, how I do love a man in spangles.”
