Kate Beckett is one of the most complex and brilliantly-written “admirable” female characters on TV today, up there with Leslie Knope and Jody Mills. It’s obvious why Castle patterns an entire book series after her — she’s fascinating and complete, a woman you could spend your life studying and still never totally understand.

The show might be called “Castle”, but Rick’s definitely not the reason to watch.
