Hawke’s first—and only—foray into the literary world was a short story published under the penname Fear N. Lothering about a broody elf named Funris whose friends all warned him his face would freeze one day in an unflattering expression if he wasn’t careful.
It was a cautionary tale, full of beautiful prose, a charming protagonist named Falcone, and no fewer than thirteen sexual innuendos per page.
(Isabela might have been the editor, since Varric’s ‘process’ couldn’t be ‘disturbed’ despite Hawke’s assertion that ‘disturbed’ was exactly what it was.)
The best part was when it out-sold Varric’s Hard In Hightown series ten to one.
‘I think I’ll write another next,’ Hawke said. ‘As for the title… How about Fifty Shades of Grey?’
