Did you write down what you considered bad/cheap writing anywhere? I don’t remember seeing it, and while I might not agree with you, I’d like to read it as you usually formulate your opinions well.
No, I didn’t (not yet, at least). That last post was more a visceral response to some conversations I’ve had with my offline friends about the movie, guys who shoved aside my opinion with “well, you just don’t understand, that’s the way superhero comics work”. No, asshole, that’s the way bad superhero comics work.(I said the same thing to them, just less articulately.)
I hesitate to publish my objections to the movie in any further detail aside from what I alluded to in the previous post. Most of the Chumblrs I know are the civil sorts, willing to agree or disagree without making it personal. But publishing for the internet isn’t just about publishing for the Chumblrs you know, but also the people you don’t, and I’m not interested in courting trolling—not today, nor on this topic. Just not worth it.
Are they talking about the Sixties Avengers with Ant-Man and the Wasp? Or the Ultimate Avengers, where Magneto’s kids are members? Or maybe they think you needed Civil War to like it? :/ What a stupid point of disagreement.
They specifically told me I should read Ultimates and come back to them. Which is doubly stupid, because I already did. It was the series that got me started on comics in the first place.
