Flutiebear: Rambling My Way Through Thedas

The wonderful Flutiebear wrote a marvelous little drabble for me a few weeks ago entitled Elivish Lessons. Featuring Merrill and Carver from her amazing In the Shadows of the Gallows series, she totally stole my heart with her reference to one of my favorite movies of all time, Sabrina. And then talks of Sabrina Merrill and Linus Carver began, because really, it works. <3

So this is my small little gift to her! There is one more coming of Merrill and Carver together, but I hope a longing Merrill peeping from the Vhenadahl overlooking the Hawke estate with a disapproving Marethari will suffice for the moment. I’ve only seen the Audrey Hepburn/Humphrey Bogart version, so black and white seemed appropriate. :)

Oh my god.

This is the best thing.

THE BEST THING.

So I was feeling kinda blue earlier this evening, just hit one of those awful funks, where you stare at the wall for longer than you think and try to figure out exactly what it is you want to be doing, and the only answer you can come up with, worse than “I don’t know”, is “nothing”.

And girl, girl, you have no idea the smile that popped on my face when I saw this hit my dash; it just swept all those cobwebs away. Just look at Marethari Fairchild’s head tilt, parental and condescending and loving all at once; and  the way Sabrina!Merrill’s cautiously clinging to that vhenadahl branch, her perch, her safety net, and the way the vhenadahl flowers look like little stars, and Garrett!David somewhere just out of sight is the moon. 

OH GOD AND THAT DRESS. That beautifully frumpy dress that mimics starlight but in all the wrong ways. AND THAT HAIR that falls into her face, and her sad, sad expression, the light that hits her cheeks, the vallaslin, and AUGH AUGH AUGH this is just so, so beautiful, so very very beautiful.

Thank you, iheartapostates. This cheered me up immensely, more than I can express.
